In 1993, Sport Copter opened a gyroplane training center at theScappoose Airport in Oregon. We presently have two certified flight instructors (CFIs) and a FAA examiner on staff. The company also owns a McCulloch J-2 side by side, fully enclosed gyroplane, which is a FAA Certificated aircraft. As of yet, there are very few FAA Certificated gyroplanes in the United States, in which to qualify for a gyroplane rating, and we have one of them.

The new “Vortex 2” (V-2) tandem is heralding a Subaru 2.2 Legacy (with gear reduction drive) and the new “Sport Rotors” rotor system. The “V-2” is a stretch version of our single-place Vortex gyroplane and you will find that the flying characteristics compliment those of all Sport Copter designs, in which the handling is very simple. Equipped with the trademarked “Roto-Control” system this is the perfect machine for the novice pilot. Its ease in control and response time, gives the student smooth accuracy, enabling an effective platform for honing new skills.

We receive students from all over the world, and we are presently the only gyroplane manufacturer equipped for certification training. Whether you are interested in getting a gyroplane rating, or only need supplementary instruction, call us for additional information.

SPORT COPTER TRAINER

The Sport Copter Trainer is the "stretched" version of the "Vortex".

Primarily this two-place was constructed to assist our customers with training. If they could master flight in this two-place "Vortex", the transition process for them into their single-place "Lightning" and/or "Vortex" would virtually be a breeze.

The handling characteristics ease you into the transition of you own single-place machine. Being of tandem configuration also gives the student pilot the feeling of flying solo. Thus the "Vortex 2" (V-2) is the new trainer for our training school and has proven to be a real workhorse.

It heralds a Subaru EJ25 engine, with gear reduction drive. It gives 210hp and has electronic fuel injection. This machine carries a great weight load.
